Dear friends,
Thank you for your support which helped us in growing vegetables in our campus. The compound wall which is being built on the road side will prevent animals from forcing in to our vegetable fields. We hope by the middle of March the construction will be completed.

The girls (our pupils) are regularly attending their classes. It has been very cold from the beginning of December till now. All the girls have been given warm clothes and blankets for the night. From time to time their parents visit them to find out whether they are keeping well and making expected progress or not. To everyone’s satisfaction the girls are making sincere efforts to study Mathematics, Science, Hindi language and literature, Geography and History. As they had insignificantly very little knowledge of each subject the task to come up to the mark has not been easy. Anyway we encourage them to do their best in the coming Examination.

A couple of month ago Gram Panchayat (Village Council) election was held in Jharkhand. The Mukhiya (the Chairperson) of our Panchayat Lapra has been reelected. Jagriti Vihara supported her (Mrs. Putul Devi) wholeheartedly to win the election. We were glad that she visited Jagriti Vihara to thank us for all help. We are now going to support the Gram Sabha (Village Assembly) in preparing different development schemes for the villages.

We feel that Jayaji's presence at Jagriti Vihara is as usual very inspiring. He called the information group to forward his greetings to each of you.

With regards,
Rajesh

Dear friends,

We are glad to inform you that the compound wall nearly 760 feet has been completed. Thanks to hired workers and Jayaji who have worked regularly and enthusiastically to complete the work.

The renovated school building and the girl’s hostel are being used. The teacher in charge Sri Gopal Prasad is taking care of the education of the girls staying in our hostel. Sushmaji, wife of Sushilji, has started helping the girls and all of us hope that she will make desired contribution to our school the Vatsalya Vidyalaya. All the eighteen girls have seem to be very much motivated to continue studying at Jagriti Vihara.

We are thankful that vegetable are being grown in the fields of Jagriti Vihara. The girls find it very interesting to work in the vegetable garden.

As usual the supply of power is erratic . It costs us a lot to use the power generator. The best thing would be to find means to install solar power generator. But it seems to be a dream that will take a long time to be realised. Unfortunately we don’t have any money for this purpose. We invite suggestions as to how to raise funds for procuring a solar power supply system .

With regards,
Rajesh Prashant

The school for girls, Vatsalya Vidyalaya, at Jagriti Vihara, has been functioning
all right as usual. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the girls who are full of hope for a better future. The girls are happy to get the opportunity to get the knowledge and the skills needed to transform their living conditions. They have been working hard to catch up with some of their most difficult subjects, such as Mathematics and English. Luckily, we have, after making several efforts, found a Mathematics teacher for them. They like this teacher very much because he listens to them patiently and explains everything clearly. We sincerely hope that this teacher will continue to work in our school despite the fact that we are not in a position to pay him the amount he could get in a public school run by the Government.

The girls of Class 9 have been promoted to Class 10 and the new admissions for Class 9 are in progress. At the same time we are trying to find ways and means to help the girls get new textbooks and other study materials. We feel that JV and JVV must persistently continue to raise funds to meet the increasing needs.

The hospital (chikitsalaya) at Jagriti Vihara is also in function. The new physician together with his staff has been managing the hospital perfectly well. Some doctors from the coalfields have also helped us in organizing certain health camps. The villagers feel that through such health camps the hospital has succeeded in spreading certain very useful measures for preventing most of the usual diseases.

Presently the fields in our campus are too dry to grow anything. When the rains come and the scorching heat subsides the work to grow vegetables will begin. The school girls are eagerly waiting for the monsoon and for the opportunity to grow vegetables. At the same time all of us feel that much has to be done to make the soil fertile.

All the pupils of the school, the hospital staff and the rest of us thank you for your support that you have given us thus far

Warm regards,
Rajesh
